Nice day Yesterday

Jackie and I went to visit an old friend of my grandfather yesterday. He lives down in St. Lazare, Manitoba. It is a quaint little French village in the Qu’apelle valley of about 250 people. We had a very good time.

My grandfather’s friend is 80 years old and worked both for my Grandfather and my dad through the years. I love sitting there listening to his stories about my dad and my grandpa. He gives me a different perspective on who my Grandpa really was.

He also makes Maple Syrup and he gave Jackie and I two bottles. it is very good, but I forgot it in the truck… I’ll have to pick it up on Monday.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Where is Jon?

Thank you Flannery for bringing my negligence to my attention… (that reads weird). Where have I been you ask, I’ve been working! Work has been insanely busy as of late, I’m dealing with all of the plants and on top of it, I am managing my own operation in Esterhazy. So, it has kept me very busy indeed.

We had a birthday party for little Carson (who is not so little anymore). (Well, relatively speaking I suppose). He turned two the other day, so Jacquelyn had a birthday party at mom and dad’s for him. Jackie and I bought him a Battery operated, radio controlled junior jet! It’s too cool, he sits on it and we walk around behind him driving it. Although it does not reach mach speed, he finds it quite enjoyable.

The whole family came over on Saturday evening for supper. Mom made a baby back rib supper and a Bob the Builder Cake. It was too cool. I remember my mom always made cool cakes for us when we were little.

I have lots of stuff to do today, so I’m going to jet. I hope all of my bloggers are doing well and that life is good.

Godspeed.

Break and enter

I broke into my condo tonight.

I went to my uncle's house tonight, had some ice cream and then came home, only to find that I locked the keys to my place inside. But I was pretty sure that my balcony door was not locked.

So... I pulled out the condo ladder (which is a wooden ladder that is older than I am, and not as sturdy). It's only a 6' step ladder, and my balcony floor is about 12 feet high... So, i climbed up the ladder, grabbed hold of the railing, said a quick prayer, and hoisted myself up onto the balcony. The ladder fell over, so I was temporarily screwed. I was holding myself up with my arms wrapped around a flimsy railing and my knees were resting on a 1/4" of balcony against the bottom of the railing. (This is an excellent balcony design by the way, as it deters theives from climbing the balcony).

I did get myself up, and luckily my door was unlocked. If that was not the case, I would have spent the weekend on the balcony, as my ladder was knocked down. I could have Jackie Channed myself down the drainpipe, but those of me who know me that although I do have cat like reflexes, I am not very Jackie Chan-like.

Anyways, I'm up at 5:00 tomorrow, so I bid you all farewell. Tonight, I am thankful for balconies, for 1'4" of ledge, and especially thankful that gravity was not especially strong tonight.

Update

I’m sorry, I’ve been neglecting you!

I always feel so bad when I’ve neglected to update my blog.

I’m still waiting for some marks to come in from University of Manitoba.

I’ve got my unofficial marks, but I still would like to see them posted. Here’s the results:

Philosophy of Language: A
Business Ethics: A
Energy Economics: A+
Economics of Health Care: B+
Political Economics: C+
Computer Usage: A+

Overall, I feel like this year was a success. I do feel very fustrated with the C+ in Political Economics, especially since that was one of my favourite classes, but I don’t feel so bad once I looked at all of the marks for the course. I got a 66%, and the class average was 52%. I got a 68% on the final, and the average for the final was 49%.

So, all in all, it’s not so bad, but I did come away from that class learning a lot about the global economy, and I feel that I can speak intelligently about the subject mater of the class. I suppose that is why I felt upset at the C+. But, as my dad put it to me, it’s the first time in my Academic history that I’ve complained about getting a C+.

I’m taking one class from the University of Athabasca, and then I’ll be done. I’ll have my BA in Economics with a philosophy minor. I convocate in October.

I do have to take the time to thank my friends who helped me on the way. As dumb as it sounds, I seriously doubted my ability to finish school because of my past experiences. I didn’t think I was capable of getting an A, never mind 4 in one semester. It makes me appreciate having met these people who taught me how to study, and helped me with my proof reading when required (thanks Flan Flan!)

Anyways, I am glad that the year is over and I am happy to be home. I spent a lovely weekend with Jackie (who, by the way, got accepted into Social work at the UofM, way to go Jackie!) and also got my condo all cleaned up for summer.

Work is going to keep me very occupied this year, but I will try my best to keep you all posted. Feel free to drop a comment to tell me to get my butt in gear if I fall behind.

TTFN!
